Last night I had a dream I was watching Master and Commander with Liam Neeson in an Imax theater, and the stormy water was so realistic I thought I was drowning, so we left the theater and got some Kiwi juice instead. I think this had something to do with watching Love Actually a few days ago. The only question in my mind is this: Why Liam? Why not Hugh, or Colin?

It has been observed that Jung was, in fact, a squib of Wizarding parentage, which may explain some of his views on the nature of the universe. To Muggles, these do seem a bit nutty.

Yes, it's Remus Lupin's senior thesis at Hogwarts.

I know I should be working on my own MA thesis, instead of considering psychoanalytic readings of Quidditch (N.B. did they have psychoanalytic readings in the late seventies?) but ... too, too perfect.

Sorry about the absence. It's been a stressful week, and next week will be worse.

As if we didn't have enough problems here in sunny California, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (G-d help us!) wants to put the state under fifteen billion dollars of debt.

Since I prefer not to think about the boggy mass of California deficit into which my university's funding is gradually falling, I'll link instead to much more cheerful news. One hopes that it won't destroy the Democrats' chances next fall, though...
